The award winning Mairangi Swim School offers an exceptional level of swimming tuition. The Swim School is warm and welcoming; our team is committed to providing swimming lessons that take place in a positive learning environment, where teaching is effective and the focus is on learning to swim well. We want to share our love for the water and build essential water skills - for life.The Mairangi Swim School was founded in 1984 by Margaret and the late Noel Howes. Their vision was to provide a top quality learn-to-swim programme on Auckland’s North Shore.
Margaret’s swimming background, her extensive knowledge in swimming techniques and teaching and Noel’s business experience enabled them to launch the venture that still provides the best of swimming tuition.
Thirty years later, that vision continues.
Families have always been important to us; we’ve taught multiple generations from several families and our main source of referral continues to be word of mouth.
Operating a ‘family-centered’ business is a prime objective and we work hard to meet families' needs. We know flexibility is important with families and have developed systems to match. We have a continuous and flexible programme meaning you can start at anytime and change lessons when needed. We also have a 'Make Up' system available for absences.The Mairangi Swim School is committed to providing a leading programme and its effectiveness closely monitored. We keep our class sizes small, and see them as three-way partnerships between the child, teacher and importantly, the parent. The role of the positive parental encouragement should never be under-estimated.
We know too about motivating and empowering children of all ages. Each swimmers progress is continually monitored and when the set goals have been achieved the swimmer will be immediately promoted to the next ability grouped class. Rewarding swimmers in this way ensures that learning is continuous and motivation remains high.
